The Awards: A Spicy Soiree

In a festive, country-style event at Black Stallion Winery in Napa, the finest food and wine danced to the tunes of a country balad. As the night progressed, the audience patiently waited to hear the announcement of the Mustard Recipe award winners. At 9:30 pm sharp, the winners were announced.

CIA Chef Almir da Fonseca Invites Sonoma – Artisan Foie Gras Owner, Guillermo Gonzalez, as Guest Speaker
Chef Almir’s graduating class from the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St. Helena attended a presentation by Guillermo.
The attendance by all 47 graduates and instructors was punctual and receptive.

ACF Dinner at Montrio Bistro
When Paul Lee, President, and Marc Jones (Stagnaro Bros. Seafood Restaurant in Santa Cruz), Events Director of the ACF Monterey Chapter, contacted Executive Chef Tony Baker to host this month’s ACF Meeting at Montrio Bistro, the Chef agreed and the three personalities applied themselves to invite the members and specialty vendors such as Ocean Mist Farms, Vande Rose Farms, Robbie’s Ocean Fresh Seafood Inc., San Saba’s Bocage Wines, and of course Sonoma - Artisan Foie Gras! The result of their efforts? A memorable dinner, great company and a wonderful networking opportunity.

Castello di Amorosa - A Charming Event Venue
When Margie Tosch invited Sonoma - Artisan Foie Gras to participate in a Food & Beverage and Service & Hospitality Industry Networking Event at Castello di Amorosa, members of our group who had never been, were in for a big surprise! It was timed perfectly - a 4 pm tour of the castle, sunset cocktail hour featuring Castello’s Anderson Valley Pinot Grigio in the Courtyard was followed by the grand entrance when magnificent wooden doors opened into the Great Hall.

Magical it was!

In a whimsical combination of art nouveau costumed models, gracefully dressed attendees in headresses, wineries and restaurants presenting epicurean delights, and a beautifully displayed auction featuring precious wines and art pieces, the evening’s magic flowed. The night culminated with the tunes of great music, rhythmic dancing and the grand finale? A Latin touch - dancing to “La Bamba” and “Tequila!”

Owner Guillermo Gonzalez attends Dinner at Jacques Pépin’s Home
On December 4, 2008, Chefs Jacques Pépin and Michel Nischan hosted a private dinner to raise funds for Grow for Good, FOOD & WINE’s national campaign to benefit Wholesome Wave Foundation Foundation - http://www.foodandwine.com/growforgood. The dinner was auctioned by the Chefs at the FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen, as part of a larger Grow for Good fundraiser, and the winning bidders and their guests enjoyed an extraordinary dinner cooked by Chefs Jacques Pépin, Jean-Claude Szurdak, Michel Nischan and John Holzwarth, at Chef Jacques Pépin’s home.

This was no ordinary meeting for San Francisco’s Convention & Visitors Bureau. Board Members held their annual meeting at The Lodge on Monday, November 17th enjoying our one-of-kind Terrine de Foie Gras and Chef Janine Falvo’s special Smoked Magret appetizer.

ITALCO Food Products Fantastic Food Show at Vail Mountain Marriott Resort
On November 13th and 14th, Italco and their valued exhibitors showcased a delightful array of products to customers who were visiting from all parts of Colorado. The Fall food show was well attended by chefs, hotel & kitchen staff, restaurateurs and individuals alike. All enjoyed sampling a wide variety of specialty products including meats of all sorts, seafood, pastas, cheeses, spices, oils, vinegars, appetizers, desserts, etc. and of course our one-of-a-kind Terrine de foie gras from Sonoma!

It was an honor to be the foie gras of choice at this special dinner in honor of the late August Escoffier on November 9th. The delightful Torchon de foie gras (mentioned on the menu excerpt above) was prepared by Chef William Wahl of Indulge French Bistro in Denver, Colorado.

COPIA’s Wine Country Pavilion at Infineon Raceway - Sonoma, CA

COPIA, the American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts, hosted the Wine Country Pavilion at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma on May 31st and June 1st. Race fans, fans of vintage cars and gourmet lovers united for this fun loving event. While car racing buffs enjoyed classic cars on parade, food and wine folks were able to partake in numerous food samplings like our silky Terrine of Foie Gras. Twelve hundred people came together for this charitable event that raised money for qualified youth organizations through Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of Infineon Raceway.

Schramsberg Cellar Club - Calistoga, CA

This year’s Schramsberg Cellar Club Party included a food and wine pairing event on May 31st. The party was great fun with a lively crowd tasting elegant food and wine, and guests frequently stopped by to taste our exquisite Terrine of Foie Gras. The day was breezy and cool under the mulberry trees as members of the Club enjoyed gourmet tidbits of oysters, caviar and of course foie gras from Artisan. Visitors to our table were mostly returning foie gras lovers and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces!

Whiskies of the World Expo - San Francisco, CA

The 2008 Whiskies of the World Expo was our first time appearing at this event. This delightful night of whiskey tastings was held aboard the San Francisco Belle docked at Pier 3, on The Embarcadero. We spread our delicious, silky Terrine of Foie Gras for hours, and are happy to say that we have many new foie gras lovers. The Mumm Napa Photo Finish - The Mustard Festival

The Grand Finale Event for the 2008 Mustard Festival was held on a crisp, clear night at the beautiful Mumm Napa winery in Rutherford. On hand were many of Northern California’s most prestigious wineries, fine hors d’oeuvres from several local caterers and restaurants, and our ever popular Terrine of Foie Gras. Sonoma-Artisan Foie Gras has been a favorite at this event for years and Saturday saw many of our returning foie gras fans. La Paulee de San Francisco - Westin St. Francis

The Grand Tasting event on March 1, 2008 at this prestigious gathering was truly GRAND. With some of the finest food and wine samplings from the San Francisco Bay Area, Chef Keiko Takahashi of El Paseo in Mill Valley, worked magic with our foie gras.
